A case of being too loyal

U of Washington offensive lineman Juan Garcia is considered by many to be one of the best centers in college football.

An All-Pac 10 selection in 2007 who is now in his sixth-year (due to injuries), Garcia has suffered through a miserable 0-9 season that saw his coach, Ty Willingham, fired.

With only three games remaining for the Huskies, Garcia said recently that the problem wasn't a lack of loyalty on the part of his former coach:

"Coach Willingham's downfall was he was too loyal to some guys on the team. He always wanted to give a guy an opportunity instead of cutting him loose. He always wanted to see people succeed, and some of that came back and bit him in the [backside]. Some of those guys didn't give that effort that he expected out of them."
